BELOW IS A WEATHER ALERT FROM ENVIRONMENT CANADA
- Picton – Sandbanks Park
Lake effect snow squalls possible this evening into Sunday. Hazards: Local snowfall accumulations of 20 to 30 cm. At this time, these potential amounts are expected to remain south of Kingston and over Prince Edward County. Very poor to zero visibility at times in heavy snow and local blowing snow. Timing: This evening to Sunday evening. Discussion: Snow squalls may lift northward into the area this evening before shifting south again on Sunday. As is common with snow squalls, snowfall amounts will be highly variable. Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
