Development charges in Stirling-Rawdon will go up dramatically soon.
Monday, council approved a new development charge by-law that will be in effect for the next five years.
The charges developers pay for increased municipal services and facilities made necessary by their developments will go up 169 per cent to over $33,000 on a single family home in the village from the previous $12,000.
However, builders can receive discounts or have the charges waived for certain types of projects, such as affordable housing.
Stirling-Rawdon is expected to grow by 1,100 people over the next 10 years bringing its population to 5,246.
