Belleville’s annual Festival of Lights kicked off on Friday, illuminating the waterfront in a festive display of colour.
Centred on the Jane Forrester Park, a spectacular display of lights brightened the dark evening, sporting festive displays such as Santa’s workshop, a Christmas village, and more. The lights weren’t the only attraction, with food vendors, a visit from Santa and Mrs Claus, and a drone light show over the park.
Belleville Councillor Garnet Thompson said that while the crowd might not be as heavy every night the displays are up, he expects the weekly visits by Santa Claus to draw people back to the park.
“I know when I come down during the week, and I see the kids here and smiling, taking pictures of the displays here. You know, there’s nothing more heartwarming than that, so, and these kids need that for Christmas.” said Councillor Thompson.
