Belleville Transit is introducing a new smartcard for riders.
The new BTAP smartcard is a plastic card with a computer chip inside allowing riders to load their fare and go.
The card can be reloaded with tickets or monthly passes online or at select service points.
Regular fare BTAP smartcards can be obtained for $5 at Belleville City Hall from Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or the Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre from Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
You can reload your card at those locations or online at BTAP’s website.
Belleville Transit says paper passes and tickets will remain available for the time being.
They will eventually be phased out as Belleville Transit transitions to the smartcard, online or cash fare only models.
The city will put out a notice once those options are no longer available.
