Belleville police are continuing to investigate vandalism at the cenotaph on Station Street earlier this month.
On the afternoon of October 23, a resident called police to report a suspicious person.
The female was observed spray-painting offensive symbols on a stone monument in the centre of the park before leaving.
Officers searched the area, however, the female suspect was not located.
“Our police service and community support our veterans and find this behaviour reprehensible,” said Deputy Chief Sheri Meeks. “We would encourage anyone who may have witnessed this event or know of the identity of the individual involved to please come forward.”
Anyone with information about the incident or identity of the suspect is asked to contact Const. Conner O’Hara at cohara@bellevilleps.ca.
If you wish to remain anonymous you can contact Crime Stoppers at 613-969-8477 or visit crimestoppersquinte.ca.
