The City of Belleville has received another big cheque for hosting Shorelines Casino Belleville.
The $845,224 represents the second quarter payment (July 1 – September 30) from Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).
So far, during OLG’s fiscal year which began April 1, Belleville has received $1,682,474.
Since the gaming site opened in January 2017, Belleville has received $20,753,558.
Payments made to communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.
Bay of Quinte MPP Tyler Allsopp says, “Land-based casinos serve as a source of good local jobs and generate important economic activity in municipalities that host gaming sites. Proceeds from gaming received through the Municipality Contribution Agreement with OLG, in turn, help strengthen local infrastructure and support community programs.”
