Belleville city council approved an amendment to its Traffic Calming Policy to include hamlet areas at its meeting Tuesday.
The amendment was recommended by the city’s Transportation Committee.
Hamlet areas are defined under the city’s Official Plan as locations where limited urban growth outside of
the urban serviced area, generally on private and/or communal services, will be encouraged. These are generally residential, but a variety of commercial, industrial, community facility and recreational/open spaces can be found in these hamlet areas.
The locations outlined in the amendment include Foxboro, Point Anne, Plainfield, Latta, Halloway, and Roslin.
A map showing these areas can be found at the City of Belleville’s website.
