There was a fire in the west end of Belleville Monday afternoon.
Around 3:20 p.m., fire crews responded to the 100 block of Purdy Street, north of Moira Street West, where they discovered a home fully engulfed in flames.
Belleville Deputy Fire Chief Mark Shannon says Belleville Police arrived on scene first and were able to rescue an elderly woman from the house.
Firefighters helped a male resident get out safely.
Two residents and an officer were checked over by Hastings-Quinte Paramedics on the scene.
Off-duty fire members were also called to the scene to assist. An investigation into the cause of the blaze is underway.
