The local unemployment rate fell substantially in September compared to the national number.
In the Belleville-Quinte West Census Metropolitan Area which includes Belleville, Quinte West, Deseronto-Tyendinaga and Stirling-Rawdon, the unemployment rate dipped to 3.6 per cent last month from 5.9 in August.
Statistics Canada says the national unemployment rate declined for the first time since January to 6.5 per cent.
It was 6.6 per cent in August.
Ontario’s rate dropped two-tenths of a point to 6.9 per cent from August’s 7.1 per cent.
