In what will likely be a formality Belleville council will decide how to fill the council seat left vacant by the recent election of former Councillor Tyler Allsopp to the Ontario legislature.
At its meeting, city staff is presenting council with its vacancy selection options.
Those include a by-election at a cost of $200,000, a direct appointment, appointment by call for applications, or by appointing the candidate who ran in the last municipal election with the highest number of votes who did not win.
Staff is recommending the latter. That candidate would be Margaret Seu. Council is expected to appoint Seu Monday.
Seu recently told Quinte News she will accept the appointment.
