Twenty-three-year-old Patrina Brooks has been in arm wrestling her whole life.
The Quinte West woman began participating after her father Tony introduced her to it 16 years ago. She says they were at a restaurant to watch a UFC fight when they saw an arm wrestling contest going on. It has been a match made in heaven since.
The jiujitsu instructor in Quinte West has competed regionally, provincially, nationally, and internationally.
She recently travelled to Greece to compete in the International Federation of Arm Wrestling World Championships.
In the 57-kilo division she captured a bronze medal in the left arm and gold in the right.
There were nerves going into the gold final against her Romanian competitor she says, but it was also exciting.
