Community Development Council of Quinte’s Good Baby Box Program is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the return of a popular fundraiser.
The Fill the Crib event begins Tuesday, October 15 and runs through October 31.
CDC Quinte is accepting donations of diapers (Huggies/Pampers, size newborn to size 6), infant wipes and miscellaneous baby care items.
Coordinator Bev Heuving says the Good Baby Box Program began serving the Belleville community and since then has grown to 14 communities throughout Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
In 2023, the program distributed 6,099 Good Baby Boxes to almost 1,400 children.
Heuving says families in rural areas benefit most from the program as they can access it in their own community where there are potential transportation barriers and possibly even higher costs for their essential baby items.
Donations can be dropped off Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the CDC office at 65 Station Street in Belleville.
This year, every person donating will have their name entered in a draw.
First prize is a new Graco infant crib, and second and third prizes are $100 gift cards donated by FreshCo Belleville and Joe’s No-Frills Belleville.
