Hastings-Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee was in Madoc on Saturday to see the new roof put on the Madoc & District Recreation Centre, paid for with a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
The Trillium Foundation contributed $150,000 for the instalment of a sealing membrane on the roof, which is expected to extend the useful life of the facility for another 15 years.
MPP Bresee said that he was thrilled with the contribution by the provincial government.
“Small municipal arenas are the beating heart of rural Ontario, they bring communities together for sports,
recreation, and social events like nothing else can,” said MPP Bresee.
The recreation centre is operated jointly by Madoc Township and Centre Hastings, and provides an ice surface, hall rentals, and other community services.
