The Kids Can’t Wait Radiothon is happening today across several radio stations including 800 CJBQ, MIX 97 and ROCK 107.
From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., donations are being accepted to the Children’s Foundation that will go towards youth support programs in Hastings, Northumberland and Prince Edward Counties.
Chair of The Children’s Foundation, Cassandra Bonn, explains some of the different programs offered by the charity.
“The Children’s Foundation has a wide variety of programs, from basically paying for car seats and cribs for babies all the way up to supporting kids in care with bursaries and scholarships to help them out with their post-secondary education, dreams and goals, and everything in between. From sending kids to camp to sending them to soccer or gymnastics or dance or any of those activities, those extracurricular activities that they don’t normally have a chance to do due to their financial situation.”
Bonn explained the number of different ways to donate and show support throughout the day.
“So donating is very easy. You can call 921-KIDS. That’s the Kids Can’t Wait telephone line. You can go to the website at thechildrensfoundation.ca and there’s a Donate button right there. We also have an online auction that’s happening right now, and there’s huge, amazing items on there. You can come to our charity barbecue at 363 Dundas Street West in Belleville today. You can go to The Dugout for dinner. You can purchase a coffee in Northumberland at McDonald’s, and they are donating 50 cents from every medium, large and extra large coffee back to the Children’s Foundation today.”
The donation form can be found here.
