Staff working for Hastings Prince Edward Pubic Health are doing a good job providing health care treatment and advice in area schools.
Wednesday, the organization’s board of directors were very impressed to learn that 100 per cent of school staff were satisfied or very satisfied, with the support being provided by the health unit.
Public Health offers hands-on clinics, along with education sessions on quitting smoking or vaping, mental health and addictions issues, sexual health, nutrition, and lifestyle.
It offers services in all secondary schools and 23 priority elementary schools in the region.
There are over 40 elementary schools in the two counties and public health does not have the staff to serve them all on a regular basis.
Substance use programming has proved to be the most popular among students. In fact, 40 per cent of all of the visits to public health’s website have to do with substance use and abuse.
