Margaret Seu is ready to serve the City of Belleville.
Mayor Neil Ellis declared the seat left vacant by new Bay of Quinte MPP Tyler Allsopp open at Monday’s meeting of council.
Staff have been asked to present a report for consideration at council’s next meeting on October 15 which is expected to recommend the empty seat go to Seu.
She finished in seventh place in Ward 1 in the 2022 Belleville municipal election, just one spot out of the top six who were voted in.
Inclusion is a priority for Seu.
She says current council members are doing a great job making the community more inclusive and she is excited to be a part of it.
Seu’s addition to council would see the number of councillors split evenly among men and women, not including the mayor.
Seu is a financial representative who has lived in Belleville for 37 years.
She is also an active volunteer with several charitable groups.
