Municipal staff are recommending that a decision on new development charges and water rates in Quinte West be postponed.
During Wednesday’s council meeting, councillors received a report outlining ongoing discussions and consultations with developers and builders by municipal staff.
Consultants recommended development charges increase by over 150 per cent to $37,000 per single family house from just $15,000.
While final approvals for the development charges and water rates was originally planned for the October 2nd meeting of council, staff have recommended pushing that date back amid ongoing discussions. Staff recommended pushing the date to October 16th for approval, with a bylaw to implement them to be in the October 3oth meeting.
Council received the report, but took no other action at this time.
