The number of people known to be homeless in Hastings County is trending upward.
A report to Hastings County Council shows that in the second quarter of the year at least 197 people
were experiencing homelessness, up 16 per cent from the first three months of the year, and the highest it’s been in the past year.
Of that total, 131 people were designated as being chronically homeless, meaning they had been without shelter for at least six of the last twelve months.
Forty-one of those listed as being chronically homeless were added in the second quarter while 24 people managed to find housing in the same period.
