Belleville police have charged four people with theft over $5,000 and possession of stolen property after stolen metal was located in two vehicles.
On Wednesday, just after 10:50 p.m., police were contacted by CN police for assistance after a suspicious vehicle was seen on their property in the area of Airport Parkway and College Street East.
When BPS arrived, they spotted two vehicles leaving the property.
Police stopped both vehicles, searched them, and located thousands of dollars worth of stolen metal.
The following four people were charged:
- 46-year-old Lajos Lakatos of Toronto
- 47-year-old Andras Adam of Scarborough
- 24-year-old Lajos Kalocsi of Scarborough
- 52-year-old Enro Turo of Toronto
Turo was additionally charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following:
- Driving under suspension,
- Use plates not authorized x2,
- No currently validated permit,
- Operate overweight motor vehicle
- Drive motor vehicle with no insurance
All four men were released on an undertaking with court dates in October.
