Two people face multiple charges after a traffic stop on Highway 401 led to the seizure of cocaine.
OPP responded to a traffic complaint about an erratic driver in the westbound lanes in Alnwick-Haldimand Township on Saturday evening.
After stopping the vehicle in Hamilton Township, officers observed suspicious items which led to the arrest of both occupants.
A search yielded suspected stolen property and 108 grams of cocaine worth just over $9,700 along with a disguise allegedly used to commit a theft under investigation by another police service.
Brian Cormier, 57, of no fixed address is charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting
- Disguise with intent
- Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court.
Elysia Allman, 37, of Oshawa is charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of property obt ained by crime over $5,000.
Cormier was held for bail while Allman is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
