Northumberland County has announced that its Director of Community and Social Services, Lisa Horne, is retiring.
Horne had a 34-year career in public service, working with the county since 2001 and serving in the role of Director of Community and Social Services since 2016.
She will officially retire on October 25, 2024.
The county credits Horne with playing a role in several initiatives including leading the local implementation of the province-wide System Service Manager model for housing services in 2016, and Early Years services in 2018.
She is also credited with guiding the county in its development of its first 10-year Housing and Homelessness Plan, a five-year Early Learning and Child Care Plan, and an Affordable Housing Strategy.
Effective September 30, oversight of the role will transition to Glenn Dees, Northumberland County Director of Health and Human Services.
He will also continue his role in overseeing operation of the Golden Plough Lodge long-term care home.
