In the South Hastings Baseball League playoffs, coming up Shortt was a good thing for Maclan Designs as Mike Shortt delivered at the plate and on the mound.
Shortt slammed a walk-off three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to help Maclan’s rally for a 10-7 win over the defending champion Bain Excavating Rockies.
Shortt also pitched a complete game with 13 strikeouts.
Colin Martin had three hits and drove in three runs while Kurtis Shortt scored four times.
The best-of-five series is tied 1-1. Game 3 is Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
Meanwhile, the other semi-final resumes tonight (Tues) at 7 p.m. in Melrose where Uen’s Pole Line and the Read Young Guns play Game 3. That series is also tied 1-1.
