A location has been chosen to build a new medical building in Picton.
Prince Edward County Committee of the Whole voted to approve a proposed location on part of the property at 375 Main Street East, during Thursday’s committee meeting. The approval also directed the mayor and CAO to assist the Prince Edward Family Health Team with any funding applications or zoning requirements needed for the site.
The area in question is currently being used as an overflow parking lot for events on the fairgrounds.
In a report to members of the committee, it was determined that one of the factors that deterred new doctors from the region is a lack of available space for their practice as a disadvantage compared to other communities.
The motion was forwarded on to council for final approval.
