Belleville police responded to 72 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on August 26, 2024 to 5 a.m. on August 27, 2024.
Uttering threats and Breach of an Undertaking
On August 26, 2024 at 9:30 p.m., Belleville police were dispatched to a residence in the city’s east end regarding a male who was walking up and down the street yelling death threats towards a specific homeowner. Officers attended and spoke to the intended homeowner. Police learned that in addition to the threats, the male suspect was currently on release conditions not to communicate with her. Police located the suspect a short distance away and arrested him without incident. As a result of the police investigation, a 50-year-old Belleville man was charged with uttering threats and breaching an undertaking. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
Assault
On August 27, 2024 at 4:39 a.m., Belleville police responded to a residence in the city’s east end regarding a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, police spoke to the involved parties. The investigation revealed that a female had been physically assaulted by her male partner. There were no reported injuries. As a result, a 19-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with assault. He was released on an undertaking. The name of the accused is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim.
