Correctional Service Canada (CSC) reports Wilson Stairs, an inmate from Bath Institution, died while in custody on August 24.
At the time of death, the inmate had been serving an indeterminate sentence, which commenced on July 2, 1968, for robbery, possess prohibited weapon, personate police officer, forcible confinement, and assault causing bodily harm.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the CSC will review the circumstances.
CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
