Belleville City Council approved an amendment to the 2024 capital budget that would increase the utilization of the province’s Building Faster Fund for Phase 1 of the Avonlough Sewage Pumping Station and Conveyance System by $413,300.
This would also reduce the utilization of the Asset Management Reserve Fund and Casino Development Reserve Fund utilization by $345,700 and $67,600 respectively.
The increase comes after the City of Belleville exceeded its 2023 housing targets laid out by the province in order to have access to the Building Faster Fund.
Initially, the city was expecting to be eligible for $826,700 from the fund if intial housing targets were met.
The city was informed by the province that they exceeded the targets, meaning they would be eligible to receive $1,240,000 for 2024, an additional $413,300.
Council approved the amendment at its meeting on Monday.
