It is with great sadness that the Quinte Broadcasting family has learned of the passing of Bob Rowbotham on Friday.
Bob worked with Quinte Broadcasting for 45 years, beginning as a young man in his early 20s in 1969.
For many years Bob was known to the community as the “Trenton and area” reporter, although from time to time he also worked out of the newsroom in Belleville.
He covered Trenton council and committees while also keeping an eye on events in Stirling, Brighton, Frankford, Ameliasburgh and Campbellford.
After a number of years Bob moved into the sales department with Quinte Broadcasting and because of his news/community events background in the area he concentrated his advertising sales efforts in the Trenton/Brighton area.
Many will remember him doing remote broadcasts from Leon’s and other major retailers many years ago.
In January of 1979 Quinte Broadcasting expanded and opened CJTN 1270 AM, Radio Trenton. The late beloved Ted Snider was general manager and Bob became sales manager.
Bob took on the the GM’s position when Ted retired, while continuing to work with key advertising clients.
As high profile a job as local radio provided him he was also very well known amongst those with a serious love for dogs.
Bob trained dogs and bred the beautiful Afghan breed for many years. A member of the Canadian Kennel Club, Bob not only operated his own kennel, he became a sought-after judge at dog shows across Canada and elsewhere over the years.
Bob will be remembered by the Quinte Broadcasting family as an energetic and funny man. He was always up for a game, whether it be cards, curling, ball or bowling. He will be missed.
