Following former MPP Todd Smith’s resignation on Friday, a provincial by-election has been called for the Bay of Quinte riding.
The by-election is set to take place on September 19.
The Premier’s office announced that a writ had been issued for the by-election in a press statement on Wednesday afternoon.
Under the Election Act, elections must be called on a Wednesday and held the fifth Thursday after the date of the issue of the writ.
