Belleville police responded to 87 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on August 15, 2024 to 5 a.m. on August 16, 2024.
Parking lot vandal arrested:
A 44-year-old Belleville man was arrested after police were called to a west end parking lot for damage to a vehicle, Thursday afternoon. Around 4:30 p.m., officers arrived at a property on Bridge Street West to take a report of damage to a vehicle. While investigating, it was learned the damage was as a result of a confrontation between ex-partners.
During an argument – which included the vehicle owner, her new boyfriend and her ex-boyfriend – her former partner kicked her vehicle, causing a large dent. The male suspect was arrested a couple of hours later, charged with domestic mischief and released on an undertaking with a September court date. His name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim involved.
Two-vehicles, one crash:
There were only minor injuries reported following a two-vehicle collision at an intersection near the downtown core, Thursday. Police were dispatched to a report of a two-vehicle collision around 5 p.m. at the intersection of Bridge and Church streets. As a result of an investigation, one of the motorists involved was charged with failing to stop for a red light.
