Quinte West is preparing to make a second attempt to apply for Federal Housing Accelerator Funds.
During Wednesday’s council meeting, council voted to apply for the second round of funding being offered by the fund. Applicants who tried for the first round but were not accepted were allowed to try again.
The second round of funding has significantly less funds available for successful applicants. While the first round offered a total of $4 billion in funding split between successful applications, the current round has only $400 million to be doled out.
Municipal staff were directed to begin work on the required steps to apply, including completing a housing needs assessment report.
The deadline for applications is September 13.
