Working smoke detectors may have prevented further damage to a Quinte West home that caught fire Wednesday afternoon.
Fire Chief John Whelan tells Quinte News fire crews responded to a minor electrical fire in the basement of a home on County Road 64 between Barcovan Beach and Carter roads around 2 p.m. and quickly extinguished the flames.
There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $50,000.
