The Quinte Royals are U16 Eastern Ontario Baseball Association Champions.
Gavin Gardiner struck out 13 batters as he led Quinte Royals 16U past Kingston Thunder 16U 2-1 on Monday.
Gardiner gave up three hits and one run over seven and two-thirds innings while walking none.
The game went to extra innings with the Royals walking off the Thunder with 2 out in front of a large enthusiastic crowd at Bayshore park in Trenton.
The Royals are off to the provincial championship in st Thomas
