What can be described as “tornadoes on the water” were spotted on Lake Ontario in Prince Edward County Saturday .
The Northern Tornadoes Project says there were multiple reports of waterspouts or funnel clouds near Sandbanks Provincial Park.
The University of Western Ontario organization, which researches reports of tornadoes and waterspouts, says it has confirmed at least one waterspout near the park and will release more information on the reports as early as Monday.
Meanwhile Environment Canada has issued a “waterspout watch” advisory for eastern Lake Ontario.
