Northumberland OPP have arrested and charged a driver after an impaired driving incident.
On Saturday, at approximately 10 p.m., OPP along with EMS and firefighters responded to a single-vehicle collision on County Road 45 in Hamilton Township.
When police arrived, they found a vehicle in a ditch with two occupants being treated by EMS for minor injuries. The driver was taken to the local hospital as a precaution.
Elizabeth Harvey, age 21, of Cobourg was arrested and charged with operation while impaired, with a blood alcohol level over 80.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg. Her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and vehicle impounded for seven days.
Northumberland OPP are reminding motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol and drugs and use a designated driver, cab, rideshare, public transit or stay overnight.
