The federal government has announced new funding for tourism spots across Eastern Ontario, including areas in the Quinte region.
Over $3.7 million is being invested in 27 organizations in Eastern Ontario under the federal government’s Tourism Growth Program.
The Municipality of Tweed will be receiving $80,000 to help undertake a rural tourism campaign to increase the number of visitors to the area.
In addition, Tweed & Company Theatre will receive $90,000 to complete improvements at the Marble Arts Centre.
In Trenton, the Quinte Museum of Natural History will be receiving $200,000 to invest in its exhibition programming.
In Prince Edward County, the County Cooperage is receiving $200,000 to help create an accessible tourism centre and tasting area at their Cherry Valley-based location.
When it comes to Indigenous Tourism, the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte will be receiving $30,500 to deliver what is being called as “a historical interpretive concert series” in Deseronto. It will be themed on the four seasons.
Finally, Moonlight on the Bay will be receiving $82,979 to help enhance its overnight lodging and increase amenities located in Tyendinaga.
