One person is deceased following a residential fire.
On August 3, 2024, just before 8:15 p.m., Lennox and Addington (L&A) County OPP along with the Greater Napanee Fire Department and Hastings Quinte Paramedic Services responded to a fire at a multi-dwelling residence on John Street, Greater Napanee. One person was transported to the hospital by ambulance and pronounced deceased a short time later.
The deceased has been identified as Walter Lasher, 67 years old, from Greater Napanee.
The L&A County OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Fire Marshal, the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
The fire is being investigated as suspicious. At this time there have been no arrests or charges in relation to the fire or death.
