One of two people charged in a frenzy of vehicle thefts, credit card frauds, breaks and enters and other criminal activity a year ago has been sentenced in a Picton courtroom
Lisa Laviolette of Nova Scotia, 38 at the time of her arrest last August, pleaded guilty to eight charges July 17 and was sentenced to one day in jail and three years probation.
She had served nine months pre-sentence custody.
Laviolette and a co-accused, Tyler McPherson of no fixed address and 25 at the time of his arrest, were charged after a theft spree that started July 15 , 2023 and lasted for several days with a total of 43 incidents occurring in Cornwall, Gananoque, Napanee, Centre Hastings, Prince Edward County and elsewhere.
Several vehicles were stolen along the way. They were arrested by RCMP in New Brunswick and returned to Ontario.
McPherson remains before the courts.
