Violent crime is trending up in the first six months of this year in Quinte West.
A report to the OPP Detachment Board shows 273 violent crimes were reported from January
through June.
That’s an increase from 250 in the first six months of last year and from 234 crimes in 2022.
Included under violent crimes are murder, attempt murder, sexual offences, robbery and forcible confinement.
So far this year there have been two homicides in Quinte West. There were none in the first six months of 2023.
