Belleville police were called to a business on North Front Street around 3:30 a.m. on Friday after several people were “bear-sprayed.”
It’s alleged a male attended the business where his former girlfriend worked.
An altercation ensued and the man “bear-sprayed” several people including his former partner.
Police say the male then brandished a knife, threatened people and stole jewellery from the victims before fleeing the scene.
A suspect was identified and a 21-year-old Belleville man was arrested.
The man, who has not been identified, was charged with robbery, three counts of assault with a weapon, three counts of uttering threats and two counts of failing to comply with a Release Order.
He was held for a bail hearing.
There were no reported injuries except for the effects of the “bear spray.”
