Belleville police believe there may be more victims after a businessman was charged with sexually assaulting a female employee.
Police have arrested and charged 49-year-old Kuganeswaran Somasuntharam and charged him with one count of sex assault after a 19-year-old alleged she was sexually assaulted while completing training by the owner of a Belleville area business.
Somasuntharam was held for bail and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice on Friday where he was remanded into custody until his next hearing date on July 29, 2024.
Belleville police say Somasuntharam lives part-time in Belleville and also has significant connections to the Trenton area and a home in Whitby.
Detectives working on the case now believe there may be more victims of Somasuntharam under similar circumstances.
