Municipal garbage and recycle collection could be coming to the Port Picton development.
During Thursday’s Committee of the Whole meeting, councillors heard a deputation from Bill Wybenga and Greg Locke from the Prince Edward Common Element Condominium Corporation. During their deputation they said that the municipality had a responsibility under the Port Picton subdivision agreement to take over providing garbage and recycle pick-up for freehold homes.
After their deputation, a brief debate took place among councillors on the appropriate next steps for the municipality.
In a motion by Kate MacNaughton, the committee instructed staff to determine if they are obligated to provide garbage pick-up service in this area.
The motion passed and was sent on to the next council meeting for final approval.
