A Belleville woman got away from police once but her freedom was short-lived after an incident in the east end of the city Tuesday morning.
Police responded after reports of a disturbance at a residence near Russell Street around 9:30 a.m. Officers were told a woman had bitten a man before taking off.
She was located and fought with police, attempting to bite them, and managed to escape by running into backyards on Golfdale Road.
Officers cordoned the area off, and along with the canine unit, searched until the suspect was arrested a short time later.
The 26-year-old woman was charged with assault causing bodily harm, resisting arrest, and failing to comply with her probation.
She was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.
