A Brighton family is hoping to renovate an existing barn to create a special events venue in the near future.
Norman and Karine Mackenzie have applied for rezoning of four acres of land at the intersection of County Road 64 and Boes Road to allow for such a facility.
However, Wednesday Brighton council deferred a decision on the application, having to wait on comments from Northumberland County as the property’s address is on County Road 64.
The zoning would allow for events with a maximum of 100 guests operating from May 1 to December 31 at a frequency of no more than once a week.
It’s proposed that for some events, outdoor tents would be utilized along with the barn.
