A commercial vehicle inspection initiative in Quinte West saw half the inspected vehicles taken off the roads.
The Ontario Provincial Police Highway Safety Division TIME team and the Ministry of Transportation conducted a joint commercial vehicle safety initiative on Thursday.
Twenty-one vehicles were inspected. Eleven (52%) were taken out of service until repairs could be completed and seven (33%) had licence plates removed for serious safety defects.
Twenty-two charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act including charges related to pre-trip and logbook violations, inoperative brakes, plates not authorized, expired annual inspection and no Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration
