Due to overwhelming demand, United Way Hastings and Prince Edward is extending the registration period for its Backpacks for Success program.
The program offers backpacks filled with grade-appropriate supplies for students from kindergarten to grade 12, including a lunch bag and water bottle, for the affordable cost of $12.
To ensure that every student in need receives a backpack, the closing date for applications has been extended to Friday, July 12.
Backpacks will be distributed to families during the second week of August.
