Brenda Weese, a long-time municipal politician in the region, has passed away.
Weese was 82.
The former nurse served in public office in a number of different roles, including nine years as the reeve of Murray Township. She would work with the amalgamation team that established the City of Quinte West (Trenton, Sidney, Frankford, and Murray).
Until 1998, Murray Township was part of Northumberland County.
Weese would also serve one year as the warden of Northumberland County.
Other roles Weese held are Executive of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, two years on the Social Services Committee, and one year on the Waste Management Committee, as well as time on the Children’s Aid Society Board of Directors, and working with the Ontario Civilian Commission of Police Services.
In lieu of flowers, the Weese family has requested a donation to the Strong Kids Campaign for the YMCA of Central East Ontario.
