A high-risk sex offender who was the subject of a community alert by Belleville police in March has been charged for breaching his release conditions.
Belleville police say they received a call at 6:53 p.m. on Tuesday of a man believed to be breaching his release order and a court ordered prohibition order.
Officers went to an address in the west end of Belleville and confirmed the identity of the man.
Police say they were able to further confirm that the man was breaching his release conditions which included not to be around children under the age of 16 years old.
Thirty-eight-year-old David Rodgers of Belleville was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order and two counts of breaching a prohibition order.
Rodgers was held in custody for a bail hearing.
Back in March, Belleville issued a community alert notifying the public that Rodgers was residing in the Belleville area after Toronto police labelled him a “prolific offender.”
Rodgers is a two-time federal offender and has a criminal history of sexual interference, possess child pornography, import, distribute, sell child pornography, make, print-publish child pornography.
Rodgers is on a 161 Prohibition order related to children for life.
