A man is facing charges in connection with the assault of a child.
On Tuesday, Belleville police and the Highland Shores Children’s Aid Society began an investigation into the assault of an eight-year-old child who arrived at school with bruising consistent with being assaulted.
Through the investigation, police formed the grounds to arrest and charge a 39-year-old Belleville male for assault.
Officers located the male at a Belleville residence and then learned the male had previously been released on domestic-related charges and was not to be at the residence or have communication with others who were living there.
The man was arrested on one charge of assault and three counts of breaching his release conditions.
He was held for a bail hearing.
