A 36-year-old Belleville man has been charged in connection with two thefts.
Belleville police were called to the bus terminal on Pinnacle Street during the noon hour on Tuesday regarding a theft where they learned a male had stolen a person’s cell phone and took off on a bike.
Using a description of the suspect, officers located the male and arrested him without incident.
Police allege the suspect claimed to have lost the phone while riding his bike but a search of the suspect revealed the phone.
He was also connected to a recent theft from a grocery store in Belleville.
The male was charged with two counts of theft and breaching his conditional sentence order and was held for a bail hearing.
The stolen cell phone was returned to the victim.
