The Province of Ontario announced nearly $6 million for the Belleville and Quinte West Community Health Centre.
On Tuesday afternoon, at the health centre’s Annual General Meeting, Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith announced $5.9 million, which will support the second phase of the Trenton Satellite Project.
Smith says it is the next evolution of the centre.
” … basically finish off the basement, of this CHC building, which is right next to Trenton Memorial Hospital. Victorian Order of Nurses, their adult day programs will be moving in here. CMHA (Canadian Mental Health Association) will also be moving in and so will the Health Unit (Hastings Prince Edward Health Unit) for Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.”
He says it will expand the centre and allow it to provide more services to people and their families.
People accessing care at Trenton will be able to connect to services, immunization services, health education, mental health and addictions support and home and community care.

“Our government is continuing to make record investments to ensure that no matter where you live, you can connect to the care you need, when you need it.” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “This investment will expand services offered by the services community health hub and is just one of the many steps our government is taking to connect families in the Bay of Quinte region to the care in their own community, now and for years to come.
“Co-locating health care providers centrally at the Belleville Quinte West Community Health Centre’s hub in Trenton ensures more convenient access to care for Quinte West residents and it allows more patient-centered collaboration among those providers,” said Todd Smith, MPP for Bay of Quinte. “Coupled with our recent investments in Trenton Memorial Hospital next door, our government is delivering the expanded capacity this community needs.”
“Being able to finally complete the Trenton Community Health Hub is incredibly exciting. It means we are finally able to co-locate VON Adult Day Program, Public Health, and Canadian Mental Health Association with Belleville and Quinte West Community Health Centre at 69 Catherine Street in Trenton. With that, we can turn our attention to more creative ways to service our community as a whole. We are delighted with this investment. It’s an important investment in community infrastructure and an important investment in leveraging resources to have the biggest, most positive impact on our community.” Sheila Braidek, Executive Director, Belleville and Quinte West Community Health Centre
